A Focus on People

In 1933, Virgil DeLap left the national CPA firm where he was working to start a new accounting firm that better matched the culture and values he believed in. His goal was simple: to build a family-oriented environment where employees could pursue their career aspirations in public accounting while also leading a balanced lifestyle.

Virgil handed his role as managing partner to his son, Vern, who passed the baton to Jim White. After over 20 years as managing partner, Jim passed the role to Virgil's grandson Dave. In 2009, Delap welcomed the clients and people of Symonds, Evans & Company to the existing practice. The merger brings the addition of two audit partners and a wealth of resources. With the combined forces, Delap now has almost 90 team members.

Now in its third generation, Delap still embraces the original values upon which it was founded. While Delap has grown to become one of the largest local accounting firms in the Portland metropolitan area, we are still at our core a family-oriented firm. We are an organization that's focused on people - both the success of our employees as well as the businesses and individuals whom we serve.
