Learning and Training
At Delap, we create a positive learning environment designed to propel your career forward. Our broad array of partnerships - including the Leading Edge Alliance, Audit Watch University, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Oregon Society of CPAs, Driving Force and others - provides you with the resources you need to take your career to the next level. Delap also offers monthly in-house training on emerging issues, allowing you to grow and stay up-to-date as new trends unfold.
During your first week, you'll participate in an intensive orientation program facilitated by Delap professionals. The goal of this training is to help meet your unique needs, while allowing you the time to meet the Delap staff, equip yourself for your role, and learn more about the firm. In addition to two full weeks of up-front training, you'll have the opportunity to participate in periodic firm meetings focusing on a wide range of procedural and technical issues. We also offer “soft skill” instruction including leadership training, mentoring, and business management coursework.
At Delap, you'll have the opportunity to attend industry-specific training and high-level conferences throughout the country, enabling you to network with professionals from other CPA firms. Delap also encourages employees to study for and pass the CPA exam early in their careers. You'll receive reimbursement for one full exam, access to Delap experts to assist in your preparation, an option of additional time off during your most critical studying period, and an immediate increase in base compensation when you become certified.
Delap offers a formal mentoring program for all of our people. From the moment you walk through the door, you'll have the opportunity to work with a “buddy” through our peer mentoring program. After you've fully acclimated to the firm, you'll select a “career development mentor” - a manager, senior manager, principal or partner - to help you refine and pursue your career and life aspirations at a deeper level.
