Office Closure: Beginning July 2, the Delap office will close for an interior remodel. The remodel project has been in the works for months and will include an updated reception area as well as new and improved conference rooms. The project is scheduled to last a few months, with the office anticipated to reopen sometime around the holidays. We will continue to assist our clients with their accounting and advisory needs during the remodel, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this renovation process.
After the events of the past week, we feel compelled to share our thoughts about the unspeakable pain that we see in our country right now. Sadly, it is not new.
We must change. Every single one of us.
We were angered to see the life of another unarmed black man killed at the hands of those we trust to serve and protect our community. Heartbroken to see the pain inflicted upon people of color all across our nation. And the continued violence that is hurting our communities. There is no other way to say it. This must stop now. There is no question that law enforcement is an incredibly difficult and complicated job. But we must find a way to improve our system so that only men and women of high character and integrity wear that badge. We know there are many good police officers who bravely serve us with honor and integrity, and who are outraged by officers who recklessly abuse their position. But those who do not respect ALL life must be identified and removed. The system we have today is broken.
We are reminded that if we say and do nothing, we are part of the problem. We must take it upon ourselves to speak up and speak out against the evil of racism. "Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that," MLK taught us. Every person is deserving of the same opportunity and respect, regardless of race, age, gender, religion, or any other label that is used to divide us. It is on every one of us to choose love and respect. To hold each other to a higher standard for how we treat ALL people.
May change and increased love and empathy start with us.
