Delap Hosts ISO Working Group for 3rd Year
Delap is proud to host the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) TC68 SC2 WG 13 working group for security in retail banking for the third time. In December, cryptographers, engineers, information security experts, payment solution architect, and other stakeholders from around the world will convene in Portland, Oregon to continue developing standards (such as PIN security for internet transactions and end-to-end encryption for card payment data) that are used by organizations worldwide to protect payment systems.
Unlike many accounting firms, Delap is uniquely positioned at the forefront of retail payment security due to our highly specialized team of information security professionals led by Darlene Kargel. Darlene Kargel has been actively involved with standards development since the early 90’s and is currently the vice chairperson to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X9 F6 working group for retail payment standards and is a United States delegate to the ISO TC68 SC2 working group (WG 13) for security in retail banking. It is of utmost importance that experts like Darlene continue to stay involved in the international arena to ensure that the United States is well represented in the development of critical standards that can have enormous impact on American citizens and businesses alike.
For those less familiar with standards development, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards body is responsible for developing industry standards worldwide. Two ISO standards that you may be familiar with are the ISO 9000 (standards for quality assurance in manufacturing and service industries) and ISO 27000 (information security management standards) documents.
